My aunt has some mead that I can't find anywere online. I was hoping that maybe someone on this board would know what kind and how valuable it is. The name is Staropolski. I am not sure whether or not this mead is a wine or not but this is the first place I found with a board so please help me.

Welcome to the board. Mead is a fermented drink made from honey, and is not a wine, which is made from grapes. Staropolski sounds like a product of Poland, but could not find any info regarding a mead of that name. Old mead can be very interesting as a liqueur; I made some back about 1970, of which now only one small bottle exists, in possession of sister. She jealously guards it, allowing only very tiny sips about once every five years.

Sounds like one of the ones our colleague CCK once posted from Washington State. Check the search function. The bottom line is whether this one or not, there are three or four excellent producers out there.

Yeah I know it is a product from Poland. I was wondering if anyone knew how old it was. I tried to look it up but nothing appeared. I don't know were else to go to look for this product. I know it is a clay jar and sealed with wax. Thanks for any info you can give me.

Shadow just a note. Mead is not one of the great collectible beverages. Doubt the residual value would outweigh the insight received by opening it and sharing with some friends. WW
