Drew-Bugger, Eat your heart out. Thanxs to CCK I`m the proud owner of a prescription to a great mag titled NorthWest Wines. (hehe I had them dudes las week!) Boy, had to strip down to the skivvies here the last three days. Temps in the high 70`s to low 80`s. Howzzit up thar? ( Giggle)WW

Sitting here reading the same mag, contemplating going out and shoveling a foot of snow off my walks.

We look more like the Northwest than the Northwest usually looks like....rain and rain. At least it's not snow.

Well it's drop dead gorgeous here. Walks are shovelled, one parking lot clear, vehicles around front, waiting for side lot to be plowed, and two feet of snow pack in the front yard. Almost time to sip a Northwest Riesling.

Our cold snap has finally ended here and it's positively balmy. Overnight lows above zero, we've even been getting some melting during the day, and the frozen pipes have finally thawed. It's perfect--cold enough for stews and red wine, but not too cold. That's my weather report. My question is why'd the weenie choose a white wine climate?

DDF, White wine climate? If it`s 78 outside you put on your shorts or swimmin` thongs , take a red from the cellar (55*) and cool-down. Lived in Denver for 15 years, fought too many snow-storms.....Desert be KEEN!! WW

I have polished off a few reds in the cellar on warm summer days. I just can't seem to work myself into a proper red wine frenzy when it's hot out.

That's when you break out the young stuff like the Beaujolais and sip them suckers on the back veranda under the umbrella.....

Just make sure there's some BBQ Chicken and Hamburgers on the grill and that the wine is chilled to a proper 60 to 65 degrees.

Come on summer!!!

Winter in Maine is great. No tourists. Just got back from a performance of Carmen by the London City Opera Company at the Maine Center for the Arts in Orano. Wonderful!

Well, we have our first, and most likely only, "snow storm" of the year here, whopping 6-8 inches. (Hey, no laughing, that's a lot for us.) Amazes me to see how paralyzing this little amount of snow can be for folks around here.
