I purchased a bottle of Hedges 1998 Columbia Valley Merlot 54% / Cabernet Sauvignon 46% wine. In my experience, an unusual blend. Any tasting notes on this wine or comments on Hedges wines?

Pretty common blend here in the PNW. Hedges usually does a reasonable job with their wines, B, B+. I have not tried this one.

I have pretty selected favorites. For Cabernet Sauvignon and blends I prefer Quilceda Creek, DeLille, and Andrew-Will. For Pinot Noir, it's Belle Pente, Springhill, Ken Wright and St. Innocent (occasionally Panther Creek). Pinot Gris is Sylvan Ridge and Eyrie. McCrea's Tierra del Sol is tough to beat for a Rhone style blend.
