2002 Alto Vineyards, Illinois, Vidal Blanc ($9.99 at Winery). Alcohol 11%. Pears and apricots on the nose and upfront. A shot of Vignoles contributes to the complexity which along with the off dry sweetness caresses the palate and ends in a lovely finish. Needed a white wine with a mouthful like this to hold up to sauteed chicken breats in aioli. It did the trick. Very nice.

Here's a grape that doesn't seem to get much respect but can sure make pretty tasty wines.

Last bottle last night; sigh. Matched splendidly with haddock in cream sauce. Wonderful.
