I'm sure that many of you are familiar with the name Newport in RI (at least the East Coast folks). I was taken on a surprise trip to this vineyard Saturday for a tour and tasting. It is a lovely little spot close to the ocean.
The tasting/tour fee was $3.00, which included a tour of the facilities, a tasting of 5 wines of your choice from their available wines (all the wines produced at the vineyard were available), and a souveneir glass.
My favorite were the Riesling - a lvely floral fragrance and clean finish ( which paired well with Japanese cuisine that evening), and the Ice wine- light, fruity and sweet, although not cloyingly so.
If anyone is planning to visit the area, this makes a nice little stop. The vineyard is open 7 days a week.
