Saw an article linked from Decanter on another wine site that Wiemer has been sold to its winemaker, Fred Merwarth. From reading the article it seems to not be a bad thing, at least in the short term. I wonder how long Hermann's style will prevail.

If Fred has been Hermann's winemaker all along (although I understand he is in his twenties), maybe he hasn't learned any bad habits.

From what I've found, Fred is 29 yo and has been with Wiemer since 2002. He doesn't appear to have any real background in winemaking, so he probably only knows Wiemer's system. However, he's going for his MW and that must have given him other insights into the process, so I guess time will tell.
