paella

What would you match with paella? I can't even decide whether to go with a white or a read.

Any suggestions?

Depends in part on what is in it. Seafood, chicken, chorizo, ???

When in doubt Rioja, although in summer I like a Spanish Rose.

The Rioja works with the saffron et al, but we prefer Spanish wines that are wholly or mostly garnacha based.

I like Spanish red with paella: Crianza from Navarra, Ribera del Duero, Ribera del Guardiana, and even Rioja are ok.

Priorat does not seem to do it for me--that's mainly a red meat wine.

But, in line with IK and garnacha, I also find Cotes de Provence and many Languedoc reds pair well with Paella. In the very south of France, along the Mediterranean/Pyerenees border with Spain, Paella is a main food in the French part that once was Catalonia, about an hour's drive from Barcelona. The red wines in that region are often laced with grenache, and other Rhone-like grapes.
