1998 Glenora Dry Riesling, $??. At first taste there was some bottle funk, but whatever it was quickly dissipated, revealing a lovely wine. It won't make old bones, but who cares? Very lovely riesling fruit, no petrol or wet stone, rather rose petals, lovely rose petals that persisted on the finish for a full minute. We had the wine with fried calamari and ginger crispy fish - a nice match. You all are going to make me a FL convert yet......

Bucko,

Here, in New York, that Riesling is no more than $7 or $8 -- Niiiice!

Glenora has an interesting Pinot Blanc, and they were rated in the top ten American sparkling wine producers by WS -- don't hold that against them.

Did you read the Finger Lakes story in the April Wine Enthusiast, by Mort Hochstein? Also niiiice!

Mort is one wine writer who actually comes here once in a while; of course, he lives in New Jersey (another wine-producing state).

I don't take the W.E. I have a Glenora Sparkler in the fridge right now for consumption this weekend - should be fun.

Oh yeah, Van - ESAD.....
