Welcome to the board. Nice to have another North Carolina voice. I have not had this particular wine so maybe someone who has can answer your question. I have had two other 1999 Fleurie wines. One I described as purple in the center of the glass, garnet on the edges, revealing plum on the nose and plum, raspberry and a hint of chocolate on the palate. It had a velvety texture. It was a bit acidic by itself but improved with food (in this case, Cheshire cheese) and I rated it as a very good wine. I found a hint of chocolate in both the 1999 Fleuries I tried and I liked both wines with food. Suggest you try the wine yourself and see if it meets any of the above description. It may vary in nose or taste or both from the ones I had.

What restaurant? I may be in Charlotte for a couple nights this fall and might want to try the restaurant. So far have been to Bistro 100 and Bijoux--both very good experiences.

I've had the '97 and '98 of that wine, but not the '99 (assuming that's Duboeuf's). Those were very floral, pleasing reds, very light on the palate, lots of fruit but without much depth. In other words, typical of a nice, fruity, Beaujolais sipper. Would expect it to be a hit with your customers who are looking for a red but don't want the intense flavors of a more robust wine.
