I have to have one bottle of this every year - just because. And then, when I have it I realize I will only have one bottle of it. This year is no different, although the 2006 is not bad. I should point out I am not a fan of BN (if it was not clear by now), I have it once a year because I was raised that way.

Domaine Moillard, Beaujolais-Villages Nouveau 2006, $11. Purple, very light in body, no length, very nouveau. Nice as an aperitif with hors d'oeuvres, as usual I would not recommend it for a proper meal. By nouveau standards it is actually not bad. I don't know that this bottling is representative of the entire vintage, or even of this year's Beaujolais nouveau for that matter, but I will venture a bet: this is not a bad BN so I am now hoping for a reasonably good 2006 vintage for the regions that really count to me (Rhone and Loire). The BN benchmark has usually worked for me in that sense.

I've even quit the one bottle a year or offering it at the table on Thanksgiving. Too much good wine with so little time. WW

Today's the third Thursday in November, for those that like to celebrate the annual Beaujolais Nouveau release. I see it as a good reminder to pick up some Cru for Thanksgiving.

I tried it at the store and bought one, I admit it. Not very good though... They really didn't do the poor young thing any favors by pouring the Seghesio Rockpile for me directly afterwards!

2006 Tres Picos just came in. Bought a few, but will wait to crack the first.
