Brisket and Syrah

Went to the early service this morning, came home and fired up the pit with wet oak. Less than an hour to go on a little 10.6 lb brisket. She's fixin' potato salad, cole slaw and ranch-style beans. Can hear her now, choppin' onions for her red barbecue sauce. Will pull a Deerfield Ranch Syrah for this event. (Droolin' all over the keyboard.......)

You just missed it, WD. But there's lots of leftovers, and even a little of the wine left. It might last another....oh, half-hour or so. Chocolate cake with raspberry filling will be served about 9.

The wine keeps getting better. Now hints of little black cherries and a sprinkling of white pepper on the palate. Alcohol is 13.9%. Only 200 cases were made of this '99, and I've only got two more bottles. When purchased last November, price was $21.99, but I noticed a month ago at the discounter's, the price was $35.99.

Hmm, the finish brings back the little black cherries...

Would like to have shared that dinner with you guys. Real, old-fashioned Texas barbecue, with all the trimmin's (except pecan pie).
