Hey, its summer boys and girls.

2006 Wild Rock Vin Gris, Pinot Noir Rose’, Central Otago ($12.99 SHWC). Alcohol level: 14%. Lots of fresh fruit including strawberries (of course) on the nose and tongue tip. It is crisp and dry with subtle, persistent and complex flavors in the middle. Its pinot noir flavors of strawberry jam take on a forestry tone, an impression of roses at the edge of the woods; and that does not mean oaky; and it finishes long and lovely. It is what we were looking for a summer rose’; and we have more.

We matched it with salmon, English muffins, and (English) minted peas. Just great.

Enjoyed another bottle last night with Shrimp Scampi with a ton of garlic in it, brown Basmati rice, and minted peas. Fantastic.

Incidentally, Dan Berger gave it a exceptional rating in this week's newsletter. The letter also included good coverage of pinkies in general as well as lighter reds.

Well, talking to my self, and it is autumnnnnnnn right now; so we popped another bottle of this lovely.

Enjoyed it after a hard day of gardening with Sesame Shrimp and rice takeout, and sliced purple Brandywines. Perfect Friday night.

Well, if I can interject in your conversation, are you a year-round pink drinker? I always talk a good game about drinking dry rose all year, and I really believe that dry rose and sparkling wines are among the most versatile and overlooked food wines out there, but I never seem to open a rose unless it's 90* outside. Go figure. Thus, I always begin the spring with a half-dozen to dozen fading pinks from the previous summer that we just never got around to. Perhaps I'll try and correct that this autumn and winter.

BTW, thanks for the notes on this one.
