Hi, I need to know 12 things.

1. Type and brand of wine to serve with Prime Rib, price range up to $40.00 a bottle

2. Basic Desert Wine suggestion and Brand

Thanks very much

Hi 22, and welcome to the Wine Board. It is very hard to give information when we don't even know what country you live in, or what you are having for dessert.

Here is the best I can do under the circumstances. You want a cabernet sauvignon to go with your roast beef. That is a problem because most of us pull one out of the cellar for that. Go to a reputable retailer and tell him you need an approacable cabernet or Bordeaux. A large dealer in a major metropolitan area would have older ones for you to choose from. If that is not an option go with an approachable current release. If all else fails, get a 1998 Columbia Crest Grand Estate, Cabernet Sauvigon. It will cost less than $15 per bottle and is very widely available in the U.S.

For dessert you will need red for chocolate, and white for just about everything else. Port is easiest route for red. A late harvest zinfandel or the French Banyuls also go great with chocolate. For white you could get an Oloroso Sherry or Madiera, or any late harvest white from the U.S. or Europe you can find. These usually come in 375 ml bottles. Bonny Doon's Muscat de Glaciere is a good choice.

What are the other ten things?
