I have to confess to still buying wine based on the label at times. This one was great, so I picked up the bottle. Cab Franc nose, with a nice floral element of violet and rose. This is just a wall of oak, however. I couldn't get a feel for any of the fruit. Better chilled. Paid $11 at a local gourmet store.

Why in the world would they use oak in Chinon? Counters the whole idea of the style.

But then, they likely have been told that us Americans like it that way...

I know. Unexpected. It wasn't just toasty or vanilla-like oak flavor, either. In fact, it wasn't like oak at all -- reminded me more of cedar, for heaven's sake.
