A delicious discovery: the 1997 Thierry Nerisson Samur Champigny. It's a gorgeous deep ruby with a pronounced, earthy black-fruit nose. Beautifully balanced, with great black cherry fruit, along with some smoky tea, chocolate and (slightly) barnyard elements. A long elegant finish, drinking beautifully right now. Very hedonistic. Unfortunately, it's primarily a restaurant wine without large production, but it is distributed by Vineyard Expressions (800) 782-1972. I would estimate it to be @$15 retail (I ordered it at a restaurant).

Cheers,

Scoop
