Birthday present

Usually my three kids give me some wine for my birthday. Not this year. For the big 60 they gave me class at a driver's school at Thompson Speedway in Thompson, CT. I get to go 15 laps against Ken Bouchard in Featherlite Modified cars. If you've never seen one of those cars, they're very light, overpowered, low slung monsters. What a blast! Of course, my wife has decided to make it a day and bring some picnic fixings, and I'm to pick a bunch of our best wines to complete the day. Life is good.

Well, I guess geezerhood is just fine, because you're only old if you want to be. The only advantage to me so far is the places that offer seniors pricing. I'm trying to follow in my Dad's footsteps. He'll be 86 on Saturday and goes through a case and a half of wine a month himself. He plays golf at least four days a week and he teaches ballroom dancing three or four evenings a week. I'm looking forward to the race car weekend because I've been a racing fan since the family lived in NC and GA about 50 years ago. I still race sail boats about every other weekend because it's great fun. I love good food, good wine, good company and good times. Like I said - life is good, and with Judy by my side I'm taking advantage of all I can experience.

Congratulations on the upcoming 60. I'm not that far from it myself. I take it that the wines will be consumed post-racing not pre-racing? Sounds exciting enough without extra stimulation.

I'm planning on fitting it into recess, ww. Maybe it would count as a Phys Ed credit. As for the trauma center, Bucko, apparently they only care about the cars. I have to take out a policy with a $500 deductible that costs $50. Their literature says that that way I'd only be out $550 if I wrecked the car. [img]http://www.wines.com/ubb2/frown.gif[/img] No mention of any coverage for bodily injury, though they do mention they have an ambulance and crew on hand for any such emergencies.

Re, senior discounts: I figure one way to beat the senior nomenclature is not to accept senior discounts--it fools everyone into thinking that you just look old for your age.
