I chose the Glenlivet. But where were those dancing girls? Confound it! Whenever it gets really good, I fall asleep......

Well, I still do not understand how the justices could agree 7 to 2 that the Florida elections were flawed and then validate the outcome.

In my opinion, Florida was a statistical tie--real legislators and statesmen would have split the electoral votes 13-Bush, 12-Gore. And real judicial restraint would have been for the Supreme Court NOT to take the case in the first place, and to let the Florida court and Florida legislators decide.

Next, we need a national election system, and we need a provision for selecting the electoral college that is based on the percentages of the popular vote.

Winoweenie,
I would not count on anything from the markets in the next couple weeks. Earnings are horrid almost across the board (except healthcare related- which have been great all year). Three words- money market funds.
I actually heard an economist on NPR say that we are officially in a r-word.

I found it humorous / scary that the first "innovative" thing "W" did was admit that he and Al were just saying the same thing in different ways, fighting over the mushy middle so to speak, in some vain attempt to claim a mandate based on "You may have voted for him but he's just like me anyway". A pox on ALL their houses!
