Some guy wearing both a shirt and a hat with the logo of the product "Perfect Sommelier" came into the store last week trying to get us to sell the ridiculous magnetic wine "aging" device. He claimed to be totally unaware that the product has been completely debunked for years and was also completely unable to explain how it supposedly worked.

NOW they have Anthony Dias Blue hyping it in Bon Appetit, yet another BIG step down the road of total lack of credibility for ADB and the magazine, NOT the big sales close he seemed to think that would be.

Their website features retailers which include at least one reputable merchant in Orange County, bizarre....

Works great for Hotsie and WW -- they claim it turned them into American Gigilos, enhanced their wine, took stains out of the carpet and cleaned the kitchen drain. How can you deny testimonials like that? How?

Au contraire, nuthin' to enhance "aging" is welcome in this here abode; don't need any help in that department. Mother Nature does just fine allbyherownself (wheeze).

Roberto,

This guy, or a clone, shows up periodically to hype this gadget under this or other names. When I first saw this a few years ago, I did some research to see what the principles behind the claims might be. To be brief, what it does is cause the tannin chains to clump. This is similar in effect to the long chain polmerization the tannins undergo over time. However, what these guys have failed to take into consideration are the other chemical changes a wine undergoes while the tannins resolve. So, they've effectively short cutted only a portion of the aging process, and the tannin clumps return to their previous state after a short period of time. I could go on and on, but Bucko said it best the last time we heard from this guy - "Fraud, fraud, fraud!" BTW, what was the guy's name who came in your shop?

Had to read that last line three times to make sure it said what it said, and didn't say what it didn't say.
