I'm not a Red Sox fan but I am truly a Yankee despiser. My hopes are up as high as yours, IK. I'd love to see those Yankees lose.

If you're a diehard Sox fan, AND a pessimist, it's no problem. You just know they're going to blow it. After all, they have since 1918. Unfortunately, I'm not a pessimist, so I'm counting on D Lo pitching the game of his life tonight. I just hope they can maintain the momentum this Saturday in the first game of the Series, and after. Sox in six!

I fell asleep last night after the eighth and woke up in a living room armchair. Had to seek out Sports Center in the wee hours of the morning to be sure that the Sox 4-2 lead had held up. So glad they got the calls right about the home run and A Rod's interference while running bases.
I'm an Orioles fan but will take most teams against the Yankees--sort of the favor the underdog thing plus the Sox long history of frustration (Cubbies too).

I'm hoping the Sox hang in there, too. The Yankees' whining about A-Rod's interference being caught on tape last night was classic.

Here's to a 'Stros and Sox series!

Our local pub was giving out t-shirts to the regulars with a great quote on the back. "My two favorite teams are the Red Sox and anyone who beats the Yankees."

Although it is not nearly the span of the Bo-Sox woes and is football, as I Vikings fan I can empathise. We know our beloved football team will never win the Super Bowl. We do get fooled occasionally and get our hopes up though. I was at the 1998 NFC Championship game vs Atlanta and could not believe my eyes. The stars all alligned and they lost a game they should have won. I know better than to believe in them, but they sucked me in that year and I am sure it will happen again.

It's been a great game... 8-1 Sox going into the 7th. So why the h**l did the Sox pull the pitcher?? I just turned the channel at 8-3, 2 runs off of Pedro and another hit. I can't watch....

Ahhh yes! The evil empire has been defeated. David has slew Goliath.
The sun will shine brighter today, the fall leaves will be more vibrant, the wine will taste better and yes Boston the curse has lifted just ever so slightly.

I have never, yes never, pulled for an American League team in the World Series. (I just believe the DH is UnAmerican) This year I will change that. Yes I have gone on record that I will pull for the Sox.

KC, Only a Game!
And WW just has a large collection of just grape juice.

David slew Goliath?! As happy as I am to see the Yankees lose to anybody, I would hardly put the Red Sox in the "David" category with their payroll. Regardless of what happens in the World Series, I am happy because the Yankees will not win it.

There was a great note from the commentators last night. They said no one on the winning team ever says "it's just a game." Bring on the World Series.

I, too, am delighted with the outcome of last night's game. Now I can switch over and root for the National League in the series. I hate that DH stuff, too.

Just getting cg's goat a bit. She may live in CA now, but she grew up in Red Sox Nation (born just 7 miles from Fenway Park). We've been Sox fans forever.
