At the risk of taking some heat for this I just have to rave a bit about Alan Jackson's "Drive" CD. I haven't listened to country in a while and frankly this feels really good. I sure do love that Georgia boy!

I met my wife at a Country-Western Bar. Our first date was to an Alabama Concert. And our two oldest daughters got us tickets to the Alabama Fairwell concert, July 11.

Country music, iced tea and red wine. Sounds like a song in there somewere.

I like him as well Georgie. However, that Drive song just doesn't do it for me. Oh, well. Maybe it's my memories of learning to drive. My Dad wasn't a great teacher. Now, however, I'll drive anythhing I can reach the pedals for. WD

and WD, the Drive song is about a boat, not a car. Does that change anything for you? Learning to drive a car with my father was no picnic either, I can tell ya! In "Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning?" I can certianly relate to the lyrics "Teachin' a class full of innocent children.." Probably the hardest day of my career. It still chokes me up to think of it.

Georgie- the first section of the song is certainly about a boat, but two of the later sections are about land vehicles. The one I thought of is the section about him letting his daughters drive his Jeep on the farm. WD

Now tell me that you square dance, little missy....... I started that at age fifteen. That was only 10 years ago..... cough. I grew up with Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Merle Haggard, Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, Jim Reeves, and the like, while cutting alfalfa and driving a wheat truck to market at a young age.

Actualy I realy didn't think of Alabama as real Country in 1984. I only had the tickets to get a date. And look what that got me!

In them days it was Mearl, Hank, Willie.....and all the real country singers for me.

tand- it's facetious. Bucko- I do square dance, although haven't in quite a while. I don't know about Georgie, but the urban cowboy thing ain't quite the truth. I spent a large part of my childhood on the family dairy farm- yeeha! nothin urban about steppin in a wet cowpie! WD
