Now, Bucko, I'm sure that you are an excellent MD...but I think my internist beats anybody! Today I went for my yearly physical, and while chatting with the doctor(whose been treating me since I was 18 years old..needless to say we've been through a lot together)our conversation turned to wine. Didn't know we had a common interest and love! He mentioned how he'd been to a local wine tasting dinner and tasted a nice tawny Port. When I expressed my love of Port, he went into his house, which is attached to the examining room, and brought out the Port and two glasses. So at 10:30 am, as I sat in my paper gown on the examining table, we toasted to my good health and sampled some Barros Lagrima Porto! Great stuff for $16. a bottle! Then he proceeded to draw blood and continue the exam. I'm sure I've never had a more enjoyable doctor's visit! He's the best!

What was it I read recently.... that one of the hazards of alcohol consumption was the tendency to misplace one's underwear.

Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker.

*There once was a doctor in Joisey

*Who examined his patient named Georgie

*He gave her some wine

*To help her unwind

*9 months later Georgie was Porgie

My doc's a female and loves old Burgundies!

At our last Christmas party she brought a 71 de Vogue Musigny. It was Heaven In A Bottle!!! Lucky us!

And, she's preeeeetttty easy on the eyes too!

So many wines... so little time!

Cheers

Greetings WOW,

You've NEVER had a Musigny???

Treat yourself to one NOW!

It's like a piece of heaven on earth! Having a great Musigny from a great vintage is truly a life-awakening experience.

They're not inexpensive but IMHO they're more than worth it. [The 2002 de Vogue Musigny goes for CDN$475 here in the Provincially operated liquor stores. ]

Cheers,

Far above my budget. I have enjoyed some village Chambolle-Musigny and have a couple C-M Premier Cru wines on hand to sample at some later date but that's about it.

WOW,

I re-read my posting and am apologizing to you for my "phrasing of the question." Of course, yes... the Musignys are quite expensive and I shouldn't have phrased it that way. So, please accept my apologies.

On ocassions I've seen a Musigny offered at a restaurant by the glass. If you get the chance to try one... I'd suggest that you give it a try. IMHO, it's quite the tasting experience. Sort of like love at first sight... butterflies in the tummy and gliding high above the clouds! Hmmm... (those days a hundred years ago!!! )

I use to think that I was a "Bordeaux" man (and not that I don't enjoy a good Bordeaux) but I've really been smittened with great Burgundies. I would exemplify a great Bordeaux as being a Hummer with power, guts, and longevity. On the other hand, I would compare a great Burgundy to a Rolls-Royce... they're exceedingly smooth, powerful, yet incredibly subtle and graceful. [Or, a Patek Phillipe versus a Rolex for the watch afficianados in the crowd.] There's a simple elegance to great Burgundies... a presence without declaration.

BTW, have you tried the de Vogue Chambolle-Musigny? Jacques Prieur, Leroy, and Meo-Camuzet are some of my other favorite producers...

I've only been fortunate enough ONCE to taste a great 78 Henri Jayer Richebourg and must say, "WOW! If there were only one wine to be tasted before exiting this world.... "

So many wines... so little time!

Cheers
