local pushers new digs in Scottsdale. Margaret D will be overseeing the rowdies. Called the home office Monday and talked to Dans' ass't to see if she wanted me to bring some oldies to compare with the current releases and got a call back in 5 minutes saying "bring-em' on down". Found a 94 Napa cab and Merlot that I'll report on tomorrow. Lots of the Bawdies are showing up. WW

Had a great time. Margaret and I opened the Merlot first and were pleasantly surprised first by the color a nice brite ruby and secondly by the nose of crushed violets, sweet cinnamon and muted red fruit. All came over on the palate and was amazingly alive and kicking for a 14 year old Napa merlot. The Cabernet gave even more as we supposed it would. This strong vintage wasn't wasted at Ducksie and this was one lovely aged cab. Margaret came back for 2nds and both dissapeared before the lunch/tasting began. I'll do a write-up on the wines poured this PM for, as usual, the weener forgot to write down the vintages.WW

Well the lineup was almost the complete curriculum. The 1st out of the chute was the 06 Migration Pinot. Lovely bottle as usual and a P/Q drink at 30 is killer. Next was the 05 Napa Merlot. Another solid bottle that is immediately accessible but has enough structure to improve for 2-5. At 50 per is well-priced. Next was the 05 napa Estate Merlot that is really a fine drink. Deep ruby color just barely shows the depth of this hummer. Given another 4-7 this will be killer! A little pricy at 80 but will reward the investment. Next was the awesome 04 Howell Mtn. Red. Needs at least 7-9 to be at its' best but has all the good stuff-n-such to go the distance. This gorgeous bottle at 70 is definately a bargain considering the quality. Lastly was the 06 Paraduxx. This Zin, Cabernet, Merlot, and Cab Franc blend never ceases to amaze and this new model is the most accessible I've had since it's intro. Can improve for 2-5 but why wait as this sucker drinks like wine rite now and at 47 almost eaquate to a P/Q contender? All in all another great lineup from the Ducks. The only missing piece was the 04 Estate Cab and the Napa Cab. Would bet an evening in my wine cellar them suckers will be tasty as the devil. WW
