Just got this CD John Pizzarellis' " Dear Mr. Cole " which is one of those dudes you want to keep rewinding. Happy hour at its' max. John is an enormously talented guitar picker from an enormously talented musical family. Didn't know the bugger could sing but he does a solid hour of the Cole trios' swinging tunes and puts his stamp on them. Played the whole CD twice yesterday and it's on now as I swing thru the morning. (envy!) Saw John and his wonderful old man Bucky at Benaroya Hall here in Sea-patch last fall. Nirvana, baby. The two of them essaying a slow, sensuous version of Django's "Nuages"...chills still climb up my dorsals....

Yes, great players, I will pick it up.

BUT, any of you who want to get a taste of some more modern music might want to check out a radio program I did on NPR last week. You can hear it at what is probably the longest URL in the history of the net:

http://www.kcrw.org/find/find_results.php3?words=&exclude=%2Fpl%2F&restrict=&any_desc=&search_keywords=&AllOrAny=all&x=39&y=10&search_archives=on&show_code=cl&radiodate=button_fixe d&past_shows=all&start_date=&end_date=&sort_order=AirDate&order_type=ReverseOrder&search_static=on

or do a search at KCRW.com for Cafe LA, May 25th, Brazilian Music with Robert

The first track is slamming Hip Hop and will scare a lot of you but I just did that to announce from the one that this was NOT going to be about Bossa Nova and the rest I think even Verne will like.

Great sounds! My wife might even like it. I like the new spelling of your name, or are you putting together a bunch of aliases?

Of course I checked it out. That's how I noticed your name was mis-spelled.

WW, where you been at? I've been listening to John Pizz. (and his dad) for years.

Frank Sinatra used Bucky as back up quite often. One day, when Frank finally did a show with John he looked at Bucky's skinny kid and said, "kid, get something to eat."
