Help! I have a VIP Dinner Date!

There is a girl who I want to impress, I have invited her over for dinner and would like to match a wine with our dinner. I plan to prepare salad, stew, homemade baked bread and Shepherds Pie. This girl is from Scotland so I am trying to be a authentic as possible. If you have any suggestions please let me know. Thank You

A personal opinion - if you try too hard, you'll screw it up. Relax. A token Scottish dish of some sort would be enough to please her. If you can pull off a Shepherd's Pie, that should be more than enough. (I was once married to a Scottish lass; quite an adventure, that was!)

Do you know anything about her wine "likes and dislikes"? Does she like reds....whites?

Serve a bit of a good single malt whiskey (scotch) before dinner. Try Glenmorangie or Glenfiddich, for instance.

Serve a good malted beverage with dinner. Try Newcastle Brown Ale, Courage, McEwan's, Bellhaven Lager or St. Andrew's Ale.

Serve a bit of the Bonney Prince's Liqueur after dinner (Drambouie).

What's all this got to do with Wine? Not much. What's it got to do with Scotland? A whole lot, for sure!!
