Went to a Bordeaux wine tasting last night in West Virginia, and must of sampled at least a dozen different wines. What I considered one of the hits of the evening, was a 1992 Moulton Rothschild. Never had the 92' before, but immediately upon tasting, knew it was Moulton from the classic Moulton taste. I couldn't figure out the year. Upon being told the wine and the year, I was very impressed with how good a wine it was for an 'off' year! The person that brought it, bought a couple of bottles relatively cheap- said nobody wanted it, so he got it for around $40 a bottle!

Best $40 bottle of wine I've ever had!

Is the Moulton different than the Mouton? If so, I just finished off 2 of the 1992 Moutons and they were excellant also and I paid a H--l of alot more than $40.

Sorry about the spelling error.... it happens a lot around here. Yes same wine, first growth Bordeaux, don't get much better.

WC just tasted the first of my 97 Moutons, couldn't resist. Expensive but worth it. They should be fantastic when they mature.

I haven't purchased any 97's yet, but thanks for the tip! I do have the 96' though, paid $169 a bottle, which I thought was a steal. I have to finish putting in my new wine cellar before I make any more major wine purchases.
