Ok, after this episode, I did treat myself to a rather large glass of Port. I sing in a local choral group that has a yearly grage sale as a fund raiser. We hold it in my church hall so we don't have to worry about the weather. There are approximatley 60 families that contribute junk to this sale. I am in charge. Last Friday night we set the entire thing up, filling, and I mean FILLING, the hall with all manner of "treasures." Saturday morning we were due to open the sale at 9:00 am. Now if any of you are into tag sales, you know that the early birds get the best selection. In past years, the line of people waiting to get in at opening time went down the sidewalk past the church. I hold the people back with a whip and a chair. This year at 8:30, not a soul in sight. "That's odd, I thought." At 8:45, nobody. I started to sweat..At 9:00...nobody. Time to panic. Apparently, the publicity person never advertised the sale in the local papers, and nobody knew we were there save a few who wandered in from the street. We decided to scratch the sale for the day which meant we had to pack every scrap of junk into our cars because we can't leave it at the church. Luckily, I have a fairly empty two-car garage with a loft. We buggy-lugged everything from the church to my garage and crammed, and I mean CRAMMED it in. We're going to have the sale at my house on a different day. I think I counted 14 van and truckloads of stuff loaded, unloaded and carried upstairs and down in the garage. The publicity chair apologized profusely for her error. Quite frankly, she's lucky we didn't put her out to the curb. GRRR
