Our second year, we took four campsites at Hermit Island in Maine for the labor day weekend. All four were on the oceans edge, three on rock bluffs and one on a sandy beach. I share the cooking with one
other ... me with my Dutch ovens and he with his grill. We eat well and drink well. I've worked to find the best plastic wine glasses I can and while not Riedel, they do just fine. I brought a 1998 Field Stone
Pinot, a 2000 Savannah-Chanelle Zin, and a "Hang Time" Pinot, forget the year and the maker. Others brought wines ... I remember 7 Deadly Zins and a Cline Old Vines Zin. My personal favorite from the weekend was the Savannah- Chanelle Zin. I said "apricots" and the campers said "oh yeah!".

But any way ... Sunsets were awesome, kayaking was smooth, weather was great and the stars were as brilliant as they can get.

Sounds like my kind of outting. No matter how arduous the setting, we always bring glass glasses, though certainly not Riedel!

Savannah-Chanelle makes some nice Pinot Noirs also. I liked one I had from a vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands.
