Just got back for a 3 day trip to Dublin. No wines this trip (wrong country), but did have a great time. Had a few nice meals too, most notably...

Bangers and Mash with a nice Beamish Irish Stout, Fish (Haddock) and Chips, and Irish Stew chased with a Jameson's (local) Irish Whiskey. Also enjoyed a Guinness straight from the Storehouse in their 5th floor bar with a 360 degree view of Dublin.

I highly recommend a visit to the seaside fishing village of Howth, just outside of Dublin. Wish we would have stayed there as opposed to inside the city. Gorgeous!

I love Ireland! Got there three or four times while living in Germany but haven't been back for years. I think when I retire (2010 or 2011) I will plan a trip to either France or Ireland.

Ah Laddie, the Old Sod truly is a wee bit o'heaven. I spent three wonderful weeks there visiting family both in Dublin and in Donegal on the family farm. I really hope to go back someday. But it sounds like you did better in the meals department. I remember going into the Dublin MacDonald's just because we'd been so turned off by the Irish cuisine! Best burger I'd ever eaten!

Don't you know it'd be a Wine-Boarder to find good food in Ireland. Again.... Have fun. WW
