No date yet--no license yet, but we are getting closer, which is why I am going to the city next week for meetings, and to locate an apartment.

A reasonable apartment, reasonably priced, will likely be more difficult to get than the license.

Don't worry IK, everyone gets an invite to the grand opening.

Sent you an e-mail Foodie, but let me know if we didn't connect.

Scoop

P.S. Did you hear about the new wine shop in SOHO, "Vintage New York", that will sell -- and offer tastings of -- only NY State wines. And because they are connected to a NY winery (Millbrook), they can sell wines to the public 7 days a week.

Nice loophole.

Yes, Scoop, I knew about it. Not the first time--back in the nineteen-eighties Wagner Vineyards had a wine shop on the upper East Side; failed dismally.

John Dyson owns Millbrook--Dyson is a politically-connected guy; and rich to boot. The State Liquor Authority just tried to rescind the Sunday sales law, but it looks like Dyson's connections beat the distributor's connections.

Dyson also has his money in California vineyards and wineries.

Scoop, I've been thinkin' is that Vintage NY operation connected to Millbrook or to Rivendell? I seem to remember the latter being the one.

Right you are Foodie, but for some reason Millbrook stuck in my brain -- they will, of course, be represented there.

Cheers,

Scoop
