wedding wine

Recently introduced friends to Oregon's Sylvan Ridge Early Muscat Semi-Sparkling wine. They would like to serve a similar wine at an upcoming wedding (rather than serving champagne). Sweetness is probably a primary reason. Any suggestion re: other semi-sparklings, and/or warnings re: related reception food pairings?

Moscato sparkling wine or even Prosecco sparklers--each Italian. Nice with prosciutto and reggiano and many other rich (even salty) foods.

Could you please add where you live to your profile, it helps us in listing wines that you might have in your area. And in this case where your friends live, as they (?) will be buying the requested wine. Thank's!!! May I ask as well why they would not use the Sylvan Ridge?

Being a fellow Oregonian, relocated in Idaho, I am fairly familiar with some of the options for local wineries there. Cooper Mountain has a nice bubbley at a reasonable price, if I remember correctly. They are located just outside of Portland, and I believe their tasting room is open all year. They also have a fine selection of pinots. I picked up a Pinot Gris from them that is very nice.

In appreciation for the responses (& in Roberto's absence!), thought I'd post the outcome:

Presented them w/ various $9-15 moscato d'asti & Oregon options. Then saw a note on wineloverspage re: Motif Classic, so threw that into the mix as a lowest cost option.

SOLD! Motif Classic won before the others ever reached the tasting table.

Score: Canandaigua 1, imports 0

Yes, I know, very sad given the plethora of reasonably priced options. But I also know that these are the same folk I'm slowly pushing beyond the notion that merlot (e.g. Barton & Guestier) is the only red wine. Looks like I've got my work cut out for me.

Wrist slap justified, but hey! they've gotta start somewhere...I started with Mirassou white zin & became a REAL wine drinker within 3 yrs. Anyway, I don't feel too bad since I got the idea from Robin Garr! cp
