I hate to say this but I hope the Clash got ripped off for their publishing and some Record Industry weasel is responsible for this:

I just saw a JAGUAR commercial on TV with the inspirational, revolutionary, off the suits and kill Margaret Thatcher chorus of "London Calling" as the pitch music. Bleeeeeeccccchhh!!!!

That's worse than the Nike commercial with "Revolution" by the Beatles.

Verne, this may be under your radar, it's a punk rock thing, Roberto

Off to Rio in the Morning!!!!!!!!

I nearly cried when I heard a Led Zepplin song on an Oldsmobile commercial.

I was just talking about the Jaguar ad with The Clash soundtrack. Signs and portents. These are the latter days, my friends.

Re Zep and the Cadillac ads, it should have been for a Dodge Viper spot instead but the Zep was all ABOUT wretched excess: loose womens, bigger cars, MORE women, horny sharks, lots of booze and amps that go to TWELVE, oh to be that young and dumb again. I listened to Whole Lotta Love over fifty times in a row the day it came out, probably explains a lot (GGG!)

The Clash were a different thing all together. I still think Sandinista would have been one of the greatest records of all time if they had edited it down from three to two discs and just kept the gems like Police on my Back, Rebel Waltz, Somebody got Murdered, classics...(and, considering the genre, so musical even Verne and IK could dig them).

Roberto

Did any of you see the interviews with the Boss on "Good Morning America"? Would like to see him with the E Street Band live. I am going to see Paul McCartney in Raleigh October 7th.
Def Leppard performed in a parking lot concert at the new super Wal-Mart in Fayetteville last night. I didn't go but hear they had about 5000 (half the expected attendance) and cars were parked in the median of the street and all over the place.
