I was speaking with a R. Mondavi rep at a tasting tonight. He was pouring a range of Mondavi's wines from Italy, US and Chile.

Looks like Mondavi is giving into Parker and the Speculator. Their new Private Selection line, which is replacing their coastal line, will be "riper, richer, fuller with more oak." He only had the Private Selection cab out to taste. It still had some fruit, but I am not a good judge of cabs. He had the older coastal selection of the Chard which was fruity, smooth and crisp with a good dose of acid. Very nice. Basically, fine as it was. But they need to increase sales at this level and so they are converting over to whats more popular. Hopefully they won't cave in too far.
