Had three of the kids up for the weekend; two to start cleaning out the attic, and one to run a yard sale. Felt like I was going though my whole life going through the boxes, and then taking most of it to the transfer station.

There were a few items of wine interest, that I will make a few postings of during the next few days. The first is a May 31, '86 edition of "California Winelands." This eighteen year old piece has no websites or e-mail address associated with any of the properties of course. The cover story is about the second anniversary of Corbett Canyon. There is also a glowing article abut "Inglenook's culinary discoveries guided by Barbara Long."

There is a column entited "Vintage Mead", by our late founder and friend Jerry Mead. He reports on the 1986 Paso Roble Wine Festival which he totes as "perhaps the largest single wine tasting in the nation." His reviews feature Fairview Farm Vineyards, and he gives good marks to their '85 Chardonnay ($10), '84 "Savy" Sauvignon Blanc, and '80 Merlot ($7). He also features "Chardonnay Bargains;" including Rolling Ridge '84 "Paso Robles" Chardonnay ($7), and Carrari '85 "Santa Barbara" Chardonnay ($5). He closes with a pitch for Not Hill Restaurant in the Mark Hopkins Hotel in San Francisco. Says they have vintages from 40 different states on their special "All American" wine list.

In the back of paper there are maps of the various regions which are very interesting to go over. In the one on the Sierra Foothills for example, Easton had not made an appearance, and Santino was featured and is now Renwood I think.

Will have to file this one away for future musings.

That's interesting, IK. But a word of warning from someone who's moved five times. If you stop to look at everything, you'll NEVER get done and you won't want to part with a lot of it. I don't envy you going through the hell known as moving! Good luck!
