Heard a wonderful voice during the credits of a movie. It sounded a bit like Bessie White, but young, and I thought that was neat. Then when the credits finished, her name came up and I had never heard of her so I searched the name on Google. If you don't have it already, you have to get the Careless Love CD by Madeline Peyroux. The song I heard first was Don't Wait Too Long. Wonderful!!

She sounds so much like Billie Holiday that it's eerie. Her CD is wonderful.

Yeah, you're right, Dan. I really meant Bille Holliday, not Bessie White. She's originally from Georgia, too.

Posted on this talent around a year ago I think. She is great. Another super new talent is a girl from So. Cal, Sara Gazarek, a Seattle native, USC music grad. Swings her patootie off. WW

Would like to make you aware of Leslie Burrs, a Philadelphian flautist/flutist and composer. He has a new CD out with Kenny Barron on piano. Also composed an African-inspired opera called "Vanqui." He calls his style of music urban classical but there are African and jazz undertones. I have a personal interest in seeing Leslie get more recognition because his sister, mother and stepfather go to my church and I have met Leslie and his wife Carol on several occasions. He's a very nice guy (and handsome) as well a talented musician. The newest CD (the one with Kenny Barron on piano) is "Impressions of Another You." Before that he had "Blue Harlem, Black Knight."
