Another boomer last night.....

Right at supper-time, a very small t-storm rolled over us and *zap*! There went the cable service, including of course my internet service. Just came back on after a full 24 hours. And these Time Warner clowns are now pushing "digital phone service" as their latest scam on the unsuspecting public! With that, they'd not only be able to deny TV and internet service, they could also disrupt telephone service to the community!

Anybody know anything about satellite service, other than the small dish outfits? Thinking about a steerable C-band, 7-10 ft dish.... and maybe DSL for the internet.

Don't know about satellite service, but I use DSL and it is great. Just about the same as cable service. Like cable, you are always connected and a good plus: DSL is split from the regular telephone line, so when you are on the Internet you can still use the telephone.

Oh, and Hotsie, we have been having boomers almost daily--along with power outages. It has been a truly hellatious spring/summer.
