Looks like Marty was trying to keep alive his streak of no post season wins. Saw a picture of Marty that shows him in the 54 Pats jersey now worn by Tedi Bruschi.

I don't blame the coach when one of his players muffs the return on a punt, another foolishly draws a penalty for head butting an opponent, etc. San Diego players shot down their own chances--they had the chance to put the game away and didn't perform. A shame for LT who was awesome. The one thing where I do maybe fault San Diego's coach was that after the game I heard commentators say that he didn't give the ball to LT enough in the second half.
