I've not tried this one yet, but the price sure got my attention - $9.99 at Costco this morning. If you're looking for a bargain Barbera, this might fill the bill. Imported by Kobrand Corp. of NY, 13% ABV.

Hotwine, I haven't had that vintage but every one of their earlier Barbera vintages I have had have been great bargains.

Good to hear, Foodie, thanks. Tried it tonight with pot roast and mashers - found it to be a lot like a cru Beaujolais, maybe a Moulin-A-Vent. Lots of fruit, color of cranberries, more of those on the palate, with moderate finish and 13% ABV. An easy sipper.

Had the 2002 tonight. $9.99 at Micucci's in Portland. Alcohol level 13%. Still an excellent buy. Gives plenty of tart cherries throughout with a little dirt in the middle. Great with pasta in tomato sauce with sweet sausages, and salad.

2004 Wednesday night. Still $9.99 at Micucci's in Portland. Alcohol level: 13%. Reaction fits that of earlier vintages. Must be one of those consistant ones!

Matched it with Rigatoni in Pink Vodka Sauce with Italian chicken sausages, and sliced tomatoes. To be perfectly honast, the wine was a little too acidic for the rather bland sauce and meat. It went great with the tomatoes.

Would definitely get more, but will serve it with a stronger dish. It is still a great value.
