2005 Finca El Portillo, Malbec, Mendoza ($7.99 NH Liq Store). Sale price: Normally $9.99. Alcohol level: 14%.

Very nice Malbec with red velvet color. Gives berry fruit and plums on the nose and upfront. More ripe berries, some chocolate, some Mendoza dirt, and more add to the complexity in the middle. Nice finish.

Matched it with grilled Loin Tips Teriyaki, pilaf, and salad. Very nice.

If I had to choose between this one and their Cab, I would pick the Cab; but it is nice enough to get again, paricularly at eight bucks!

How odd that I just found this post. I was at BevMo this weekend, and wanted to try a Malbec as I have never had any Argentine wine, and this is the exact one I picked up. It was part of their buy one, get a second for $.05 sale, so I got them for $6/btl. Thanks for the note!
