This is regularly priced $8.99 at Carolina Wine Company and was recently on sale for $5.84. I've purchased a bottle here and there before and got two bottles on sale. It is probably the best under $10 wine I've ever had (in today's dollar), let alone for less than $6. It's from high-altitude, old Tempranillo vines. With its juicy, fruity character it can be a great food wine or party wine. I may not open a bottle at home for several weeks, but when I do I will report back in more detail. (It was open for tasting last Saturday and I encouraged two women who were sampling the open white wines to give it a try. They liked it and added it to their order. I commented that it would make a good party wine and they said "Yes, and our friends wouldn't know it's a cheap wine because they've probably never seen it anywhere before.")

You can't beat that -- sounds great!

I had been using the Bodegas Eguren Protocolo as my bargain-basement Spanish red. It's at about the same price point. I'll look for this one.
