Just purchased a bottle of 1999 Baron Herzog Cabernet for under $10.

Found that I had to decant for almost 45 minutes for it to open up, but once it did I found it to be very enjoyable.

Had notes of what I thought was green peppers, cassis and black raspberries. On the palate detected some coffee, plumbs and a rich berry taste. Long finish that was enjoyable.

Now I know to most of the more expert wine drinkers here that this may not be a good wine. But would like to hear about your impressions of it.

Again for the price I thought it was a nice wine.

I generally only drink Baron Herzog on Passover, but they're generally pleasant enough wines.
last year's Chenin Blanc was something like $7 and plenty good at that price.

Not sure I would trust a 7 year old Baron Herzog, but at least it was the cab!
