I didn't drink any alcohol for the past 5 years and recently went to the liquor store to buy my favorite cabernet. Imagine my shock when I found out my $12 bottle of wine had gone up to $100/bottle. As tempting as it was to get out the credit card, I am sure there are suitable red wines for less than $30/bottle. Problem is I liked this one so much it was all I drank. Any ideas?? PS-I live in Fl and it is often difficult to get some wines

Cakebread Cellars. I guess the popularity combined with their restrictive shipping to FL (so I've been told) drove the price up.

100 bucks is a tad high even in Fl for Jacks' juice. Even in overpriced Phoenix because of the 3-tired system it is 65. Granted thgis is a quality cab it is still cheap IMHO compared to some of the newbies on the block. For a more reasonable alternative see if you can find Markham Napa or Hess Colletion. Both are tasty bottles that wont send you into sticker shock. WW

?IMHO? I'll look for both those lables this weekend. I wish there was a sits that told me whether something was available here or not, so often I've read about a good wine and then I can't firnd it anywhere in FL. I was tempted to smuggle some in from CA when I was there last, but I don't know what the rules are on that.

In My Humble Opinion (IMHO) the rules are whatever you can get away with. Have never had an airline tell me I couldn't check in a wine shipper.

Both those wines in particular the Hess are very widely distributed. You live in a very upscale area, and they must be there somewhere.
