This Chilean blend of 85% CS and 15% Merlot is surprising: nice fruit, if somewhat subdued, and a very light mouthfeel, with just the right amount of alcohol at 12.5%. Hard to beat as a quaffer at $4.99, but it also paired well tonight with beef stroganoff, a dish for which we normally choose a Bordeaux. No, I wasn't feeling cheap; I was already into this one when she announced her menu for dinner, so she used a cup of it in cooking and we nursed the remainder through the meal. We'll buy more.

Sure looks to me Hot-Bod that 'ole man "skin-flint" done be visitin' Helotas. The market's rebounding, spending on the way back up, interest rates WAY down. CHILIAN with Strogie, unforgivable. WW

Hotwine, since I know you enjoy the Falling Star merlot-malbec blend...look for Concha y Toro's Syrah-Malbec blend, it's a pretty tasty quaff alongside beef. (No Chile sneers, youse guys...it's Argentinan and priced right. Good enough for daily drinking for those of us hit by layoffs. Thank goodness for a reasonably full cellar.)
