1988 Brunel, Les Cailloux, Chateauneuf du Pape - Excellent aged Rhone nose, with sweet cherry/berry fruit, leather, smoke, spice, and some earthy aromas. Very nice on the palate, not a bruiser like the '89/'90 versions, but more medium weight and ready to go, with sweet, black cherry/berry fruit, leather, spice, smoke/meat, and earthy notes. This seems to be right at peak now. A bargain at a recent cellar
sale for $19. Approx..90-91.
