'98 La Veille Ferme Cote du Ventoux

In celebration of filing my taxes and realizing a meager refund....which is good for Maryland (one of the highest taxed States in the Union) heck, Baltimore City is $6.00 on the hundred for property taxes. I popped the above, couldn't afford anything else. Beautiful clear black/purple color, complex nose of brett, gym sweat socks, black fruit, mature raspberry and a little chocolate. Forward fruit, cassis and tart plum with a medium long smooth finish. The Gym sock thing never blew off but added an interesting experience. (I know this sounds nuts but it wasn't a turn off) One of the nicer "Old Farms" 12.5% Alc./vol.

Went thru 3 cases of that lil' sucker early on in it's release. For the few extra I switched to Parralel 45. WW

Day two....vacu vined the remainder and opened this evening. The gym socks thing blew off and the wine was much rounder, fuller and tastier! I guess it needed some opening time.

WW, I gave a bottle of the Parallel 45 to my brother as a gift for his hopitality. (He had us over for a weekend while we were in Florida.)

I did not buy a bottle for moi. Should I have? Sounds like maybe I should hunt this sucker down and give it a try.

The Ferme is very pleasant, as we've said here before, especially with grilled hamburgers or smoked brisket. I still have some '96s and '97s hiding out in the old storm cellar, including a large format '96. They're great for backyard BBQs.
