Rock 'n Roll Syrah

2002 K Vintners "Morrison Lane" Walla Walla Syrah. Monster wine, earthy, gamey, a real taste experience that needs to be accompanied by a feast of barbeque baby backs, which I happen to be enjoying right now, hence the sauce on my keyboard. The kind of wine that requires a bib and loud music. All kidding aside, this is a real Big One. Well worth the price tag. (40.00)

Morrison Lane is making their own wine now. I think they quit selling their fruit, but I may be wrong.

I'd be grateful if you could tell me more about good Washington wines. Just bought Owen Roe Columbia Valley, Abbot's Table. Tasted yesterday at my local shop. Lovely.

I visited some Washington wineries last August and one whose Syrah I particularly enjoyed was Saviah. They produce both a Walla Walla and a Red Mountain Syrah.

Posted on the '03 last August in the Northwest thread. I agree -- a monster wine. We've got another (autographed by Charles Smith, actually) that we'll hold on to for about 8 years.

Thanks so much for the Bucko link to Walla Walla, what a great resource this board is. I've got a week off in May, and would like to visit either Oregon or Washington wine country. I was set on Oregon, but now I'm not so sure.

I love Pinot Noirs so spent a couple days visiting wineries in the Willamette Valley before the trip to Washington. We just touched the surface of Washington wineries so much to go back for another time. Either way you should find some good wines and friendly people.

We crossed paths with Wonders while in WIllamette for several days last summer. If you decide to go and would like any suggestions, let me know. Like Wonders said, we just scratched the surface in Washington, us even moreso, as we spent less time there than the rest of the group. Thus, we're going back this summer.
