Le Calice de Saint Pierre is the full name of this Chateauneuf du Pape. Decanted 30 minutes before 1st pour and throughout evening. Dark garnet in color. Started a bit tight, with some tart fruit being framed by tannins, but after time it opened into a wonderful wine. Dark fruits mingle with many other things that add complexity and subtlety -- aromas of leather and earth, red spices, and a coffee note on the finish. We liked it. Paid $29 locally. Alc. 14%.
