Went back 60 days and couldn't find a post for either so am doin'-it. The Perrin is one of the best of the Cotes I've had. Slightly more concentrated than the Parrallel 45 and with the smokey, bacon, deep fruits I likes in my Syrahs( Although this suckers 60% Grenache,20% Syrah and 10% each of Mourvedre and Cinsault). Has a lovely entry and a solid center and finish. A great value at 9.59 in case lots. The Foppiano is one of those orphan wines that are still being made by some of the old-timers in Sonoma whose vines are older than Bucko.( YEP! REALLY ) What a super concentrated PS this baby is. Huge nose of Pepper, Cinnamon, All-Spice and a hint of clove with deep berry and cocoa coming up. This Bugger plays to a standing ovation of the taste-buds from the first sip till it's silky finish. At 13.99 in cases I'll arrange for 2 more to inhabit the WWs' cellar for a few weeks. Best PS I've tasted since the 78 Stags Leap Winerys. WW

How would you compare the '98 Foppiano to the '97?

Drew, IMHO the 98 is as I posted " The best PS since the 78 Stags. " The 97 Foppiano I tried was a little backward. Maybe it'll come around with some time as there's no comaparasion in the 2 vintages and Foppiano makes super PS's. I don't intend to throw them out. WW

Found a bottle of the 98 Foppiano petite sirah here in NYC ($17.99; I'll look for cheaper), and it's every bit as good as WW says. Love it. Definitely getting a case of this one.

Of course, I have to now get rid of some wine that I bought on winebid.com to acquire others...

It is strickly a blending wine for C-D-Rs, C-D-Ps and other Rhone blends. Not a stand aloner. Australian alias' include Black Prince, Blue Imperial, Oeillade, and Ulliade.

IrishMum,

Most of my "unloaders" were bought during a rare spell of being flush with cash--and a flushed brain.

But if I bought 'em on winebid.com, someone else is bound to!
