I have a bottle of Chateau d'Ampuis 1996 and would like some infomration about it. Is anyone familiar with this wine?

This is a wine made by Guigal since he registered the trademark Chateau d'Ampuis. You might read the label again since it is no doubt a Cote Rotie 1996. Vintage dated French wines normally have the AOC on the label. I have not tasted it but 1996 was a reasonably good vintage in this region
