A Central Coast wine, and a blend of Syrah and Viogner, though neither the label nor the website gives any details as to %. My first taste of a Garretson wine, and it won't be my last.

Opaque color, which I'd call deep purple (Anne made a "Smoke on the Water" reference), if not virtually black. Big nose of spices and berries. Huge in the mouth, with the berry fruit wrapped in spices, prickly bramble elements, and a touch of dark chocolate on the finish, which is very long. Still fortified with tannins, which should carry this thing several years. Alc. 15.4%. Paid $17 locally. Only 200 cases produced, so it'd be hard to find. I'm going back for perhaps a half case to sit on the next 3-6 years. Big wine for the money.

FWIW, it's called that because Mat is from GA -- it's a tribute to his family and friends still here.

Makes me want to seek out some of his other bottlings. Anyone else have any experience with his wines?

Heard some good things about Garretson wines but haven't seen any in my area.
