Teeth-staining, tongue-coating, mouth-filling juice! From 100 year old vines from McDowell Valley Vineyard in Mendicino this is one kick-patootie bootle of lush juice. Medium deep ruby. Nose hints of red and black berries with an overlay of all-spice, cinnamon and ginger. Blue-black and rasp berries come over on the palate along with an impression of the sweet spices. A different grape varietal for me and really a marvelous experience. Solid entry, weighty center and a 3&3/4ths lapper finish. Will go with about any foods you want to pair it with. Strongly suggest any board member who has shipping to get on this tremendous suppliers wine-club list. They not only make some of the best wines,IMHO, in Calif but their pricing is a breath of fresh air. 91/93. 12.5%alc. 14 by the box on the club.WW

"12.5%alc."

That is the biggest shocker!

BTW, their web site does not show this wine, only a Grenache at $25 and 13.7% alcohol.

This, as posted Herr Buckinheimer, was thru Jeffs' Wine club. The grape source was McDowell Valley Vineyard. Ordered another box by phone yesterday. Posting below on another of the Clubs offerings a Tempranillo from Pierce ranch that also weighed in at 12.5% alc. WW

There was a time when we breezed through more cases of McDowell Valley Vinyards Granche Rose' than we could keep track of. Stopped when shipping to Maine became a problem, but they still make it. It was a very lovely summer wine though. We have also enjoyed their Syrah.

Most have stringent entry policies. I'd be happy to vouch for you on this outstanding vineyard. WW
